Chapter 16
Alone Again
At some point during the detachment in my brain, I had a dream, starting sweet, but ending nightmarish. Now I feel it was not just a dream, but more like an antecedent to a real event or even my own fate; it was an encounter between my brain and my fate, like all dreams.
There were Rosa and I in the dream and the plot was not this world of confusion, rush and selfishness, but a different world where there were all creatures stood side by side, humans, animals, birds and fish, trees, plants and flowers, stars, clouds and moon. Apparently, Rosa and I were getting married that day; we were both adults in the dreamâold enough to get married. Rosa was dressed up in white; everything she was wearingâgown, gloves, socks, sandals and flowersâwas all pure white and she was the best bride that anyone could dream, even in a dream. I was also dressed up to be an equally matching bridegroomâin black trousers, blazers and shoes, white shirt and a black necktie. I had not really known that I was a good-looking boyâa man thenâand in the smartest clothes I looked very attractive, even as handsome and glamorous as models on TV.
I was waiting at the entrance of the large wedding hall which was full of guests who were, again, dressed up to the occasion. I was very excited about not only marrying Rosa, but about the whole celebration as well. I had never had the slightest aspiration of getting married in my life as I had thought I was not fit enough to marry, but then I was over the moon that I was not only getting married, but also I was marrying Rosa who had been my friend for the last few years and who was the best girl, the most suitable girl to me in every sense.
Waiting there for my bride was like a hornbill bird waiting for the first rainâthe most exciting but craving moment. I did not feel like I did not have any friends or family then because I was surrounded by so many kind-hearted and sociable beings that cared about me and Rosa, and our wedding. I knew Rosa was on her way to join me, to hold my hands, to walk together along the aisle to the dais, to agree to marry me and I to marry her, sign the documents and then start a new life as a coupleâhusband and wife. The fondness that we felt for each other since we met was taking its next stageâlove, responsibility, mutual respect and care for each other which was basically the cornerstone of any married life, I believed. Although I had loved Rosa all the time, I was going to reiterate my love for her over and over in my mind and brain and also to the public, standing there, in front of the wedding dais. I would promise that I would love Rosa with all my heart, with all
